 Product Description

Octocrylene is an organic compound frequently employed as an ingredient in sunscreens and cosmetics. It results from the condensation of 2-ethylhexyl cyanoacetate with benzophenone, forming an ester. Octocrylene presents as a clear, colorless, and viscous, oily liquid. The acrylate section of the molecule features an extended conjugation that effectively absorbs UVB and short-wave UVA rays, ranging from 280 to 320 nm in wavelength. This absorption capacity serves to shield the skin from direct DNA damage caused by these types of ultraviolet radiation. Additionally, the ethylhexanol component, functioning as a fatty alcohol, imparts emollient and water-resistant properties to the product.
